As You Like, a Moroccan Henna Design Book
The designs in this book were created and shared with us by Khadija (@galerie_henna), a henna artist based in Sidi Kacem, Morocco. She is one of our instructors for our Mektoub Henna Journey trips, teaching our attendees the secrets of Moroccan Fessi henna designs and Islamic henna designs. The designs in this book are part of her incessant and impressive dedication to practice. At her request, we digitized them, cleaning up corners and edges in a stylistic perspective that she directed. We suggested that these designs be made available to artists worldwide in the form of a book, because people need to know about the huge talents of our friend and teacher.
This book contains 91 individual ‘spot’ designs. Khadija receives 90% of all the sales of her book. We at Mektoub keep 10% of the administrative costs of hosting this book for sale.
When we first launched this book, Khadija asked us to buy her an iPad and Apple pencil with the proceeds so that she could create the designs herself. We raised enough for this and more because a generous anonymous donor donated a new iPad. We brought this gift and the Apple pencil to her when we were in Marrakesh in April 2023, and she has been hard at work making new designs since then. Stay tuned for more incredible designs from Khadija!
